This month's vendor is SUPER fun, not just for us moms, but for the littles. When we first saw Yippitee's tees, we weren't quite sure what we were being sold. Is it a shirt? Is it a toy? Is it a stroke of GENIUS?!
Don't worry-- we won't leave you hanging. Yippitee is ALL of those things! Owner Peggy Keefe-Lopez is changing the game for kid's tees. We got a chance to chat with her about her motivation and her hopes for moms like us.
Can you tell us a little more about what exactly Yippitee is?
Yippitee is a new, mom-owned brand of kids birthday shirts for ages 1-5. Each shirt is designed to be worn for more than a day and the shirts for ages 3+ come with finger puppets that snap on and off for play on-the-go!
How fun! We've all seen birthday shirts that can be worn for just a day. How did you come up with the idea?
This idea came about when the search for the perfect birthday shirt for my son's second birthday came up short. I was pretty particular and wanted a great fitting shirt with a cute design that would be Instagram-worthy with no "birthday boy" phrases that meant it would only be good for one day. I also had a nagging desire for him to have a shirt with toys that could snap on and off just wouldn't relent. So I decided to combine the two ideas and make it happen!
What a great idea. I'm sure you're super busy, but what do you do in your "free time"?
My other hobby is embroidery. I actually began my entrepreneurial journey with an Etsy shop selling hand personalized baby bibs when my son was teeny. I recently re-opened it for a handful of orders a month because I love having something to do with my hands while relaxing and watching Netflix or listening to an audiobook. (I'm not good at sitting still.)
Being a #momboss can be tough to balance. What keeps you motivated?
I am motivated most by other moms. I love seeing strong women lifting each other up. As a small business owner and a mom I'm in a lot of online and real life groups of others that are going through the same struggles. It's so heartening to see so many women loving each other and propping each other up when needed.
Is there any advice you'd like to give to our mamas?
I think the hardest advice I've heard would be to trust myself, but it's the most important. There is so much advice out there and so many different "experts" but no one person has raised ALL the children. Every kid is different as is every parent, so we need to have faith in our own abilities and realize there is no perfect way to be a mom.
How sweet is Peggy?! And her designs are totally unisex, which we love. You can find Yippitee! on Facebook, Instagram, and their website (which also includes free monster party printables!). All this month, Yippitee! is offering you 15% off anything in her shop with the code "F4M1017". Be on the lookout for not one, but TWO giveaways this month as well! Let's party, mama!
