Vendor of the Month: The Dainty Doe

dainty + simple + pretty

We are LOVING the simple beauty of every piece of jewelry from The Dainty Doe! Whether you're looking for a stunning layering necklace (we're eyeing the Drew and the Brody), earrings for any occassion (the River and the Talia are calling our name!), or a beautiful hand-stamped piece, she's got it. What's even better is that Kim is a mama, just like us. She hustles on the side, during nap time and after her kiddos head to bed. She understands #momlife to the fullest and she knows just how to make us feel gorgeous.

Kim Norrell, The Dainty Doe

Can you tell us a brief summary of your company? What is your "why"?

The Dainty Doe is a small business I started about 3 years ago. I design, make, and sell dainty + simple + pretty jewelry including necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings. I sell online, in my retail store: The Hub in downtown Temple, small boutiques throughout the US, and at local markets throughout the year. I love to wire wrap and hand stamp pieces using high quality metals and semi precious stones. I draw inspiration from nature and femininity, creating soft delicate pieces with light and airy colors.

What made you start a jewelry company from your kitchen table?

I started my business within a few months of my second sons birth. I think I was searching for something to do that I enjoyed and gave me some "me time" I ordered some tools and supplies and was immediately hooked on the craft. I was soon wondering what to do with all the jewelry I had made and decided to try selling some pieces at a local market day. The response was great and I continued to go each month, expanding the line and eventually opening an Etsy shop. I enjoy not only the art of making jewelry, but also the business side of things and the people I meet along the way.

Creating a business while also running a family is tough! What is it about your business that keeps you passionate?

My favorite part or passion of my business is designing. Not just the jewelry pieces themselves but also designing the spaces that I sell in. From a pop-up tent to a brick a mortar store, I love creating a calm beautiful place to shop in. I love creating an experience for the customer.

Aside from the design aspect, what really motivates you?

My motivation is absolutely my family. Being able to do something I love that also supports my family and provides for my children is what gets me out of bed at 4 am to start setting up for a pop show.

What advice would you give fellow mamas?

My advice for other moms would be to chase your dreams! Do something you love and are passionate about!
