Meet Kim Newton, our Wilco Playdate Captain!

I grew up in Austin until the age of 11 and then my family moved to a teeny tiny town called Nixon, Texas. After high school, I moved to College Station (a bigger teeny tiny town) and attended Texas A&M University as a Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 2004. Whoop! There I double majored in Entomology and Agronomy. People call me "bug and dirt girl"! I have one older brother, Ken, who has two beautiful daughters. My parents, Lilly and Ray, are still married after 46 years of marriage and live in Seguin, Texas.

After I graduated college, I moved to Dallas for a research job with Terminix. It wasn't for me! I had a friend who worked in the HR department of a financial clearing firm and put in a good word for me even though I had zero clue about anything the company actually did. I worked hard to learn the ins and outs of the brokerage world and I ended up working in my position as an Internal Control Specialist for almost 6 years. In the first 3 months of working there, I met my husband Jake. We dated for 3 years before we got married on a beach in Florida. When we decided it was time to start a family, our company let us work remotely and move to Austin to be closer to our families.

We had Lily Elizabeth, our one and only, in July of 2012. She has always been very headstrong but she is the light of my life and one day she will definitely call me her "Smother"! When she was 2 months old, I became extremely stir crazy and unhappy with my post baby body so I started googling "mom and me" groups. That's when I found Stroller Strides. I signed up immediately for the next morning class and was so nervous about going! I almost backed out but I forced myself to walk into the mall that morning. I haven't looked back since.

Joining Fit4Mom was the best decision for not only myself, but for Lily and Jake! These women quickly became my friends, my family, my village. I honestly don't know where I'd be without them. Lily will be turning 4 this summer and I hope to keep her as busy as possible with our favorite activities - Stroller Strides, crafting, swimming and dancing! And now that she's old enough, going to the movies - our absolute favorite pastime!
