30 Day Challenge: Planks and Thanks

Every November 1st, my news feed is flooded with the start of the “30 Days of Thanks” Challenge. These challenges are great, but they can be hard to follow through with because… life. The crazy thing is, I’ve seen people complain about seeing these challenges on their news feeds. I totally get the idea that we should be thankful all year long, but being a little extra thankful around the holidays is a-okay in my book! I actually think the idea of having a grateful heart and being mindful of your blessings is quite lovely. It seems to fill my news feed with more positivity than negativity and I don’t think anyone can complain about that! This year, our Georgetown Stroller Strides mamas have taken it one step farther and I have to say, I am SO inspired! The different parks often have a monthly fitness challenge (think: squats, push-ups, planks, etc), but this year, Melody, our Georgetown Instructor is starting a “Planks and Thanks” Challenge.

The premise is simple: everyday this month, you challenge yourself to a new plank and to write someone a thank you note (via snail mail, text, phone call, whatever floats your boat). Melody writes: Today is our first day of Planks and Thanks!!! You can challenge yourself to 1, 2, 3 or more minutes of the plank of the day and then be sure to send a note, text, email, etc. to friend or loved one to let them know you're thankful for them!! I'm going to try to do snail mail because I thoroughly enjoy getting mail that is not bills but we will see if I can stay diligent to it. Also, if you're not down for a plank challenge do the thank part. If you don't want to do the thank part, join us for the plank part. Let's just encourage one another this month to better ourselves … I'm so thankful for each of you and your kiddos. Happy #PlanksgivingMamas!!!!”

How can you NOT be inspired by that?! I’m going to try to follow along and spread some love and thankfulness this month (and maybe tone up a bit with those planks!).
